Born in Japan. He studied art in Japan and Mexico. Awarded: 1st Prize at the First Sculpture Triennial in Mexico, 1979; “Alternative Space” prize, Mexico, 1985. He has exhibited in the Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico City, 1985; Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca, 1996; Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, Mexico City, 1997. In 1998, in Nagasaki, Japan, he created a monumental sculpture. Ota has participated in many individual and group shows in diverse countries. He presently teaches at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas, UNAM, and La Esmeralda School, and has received a grant from the Sistema Nacional de Creadores, FONCA, Mexico.
